Safety Is Not a Checkbox. At Meiborg, It Is How We Operate.

June marks National Safety Month, an annual reminder to pause, reflect, and recommit to the safety practices that protect people every single day. But at Meiborg Companies, that conversation does not start in June and end on July 1st.

Safety is a core value woven into everything we do, from the moment a driver applies to join our team to every mile they run representing the Meiborg name.

This month we want to share exactly what that looks like in practice, because we believe transparency about how we operate makes our roads, our workplaces, and our communities safer for everyone.

It Starts Before Anyone Turns a Wheel

Most companies put a driver through orientation and send them out. We do things differently.

Before any new hire ever reaches formal orientation, every driver at Meiborg goes through an internal pre-trip inspection exam and a road test administered directly by our safety team. We want to know exactly who we are putting behind the wheel before they ever represent Meiborg on the road. That standard is non-negotiable.

Our drivers operate across dry van, flatbed, reefer, and hazmat sectors in a fleet of over 215 trucks and 800 trailers. The stakes are high every single day. That is why our hiring and onboarding process is built to make sure every driver who runs under our name is ready, trained, and accountable from day one.

Technology That Makes Our Drivers Better

We do not use technology to police our drivers. We use it to make them better.

Meiborg runs Motive for ELD compliance and AI dashcam monitoring across our fleet. This system detects unsafe driving behaviors in real time and delivers in-cab alerts that allow drivers to self-correct immediately, before a situation ever becomes an incident. When our safety team reviews the data, the goal is coaching, not catching. We work directly with drivers on identified behaviors because a better driver is a safer driver, and a safer driver is a more successful one.

Our fleet is also equipped with the Bendix Wingman Advanced collision mitigation system, which provides adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking to prevent rear-end collisions. All safety data is centralized within McLeod LoadMaster and Tenstreet, our transportation management and compliance hub, giving our team a complete and accurate picture of fleet safety at all times.

Weekly Safety Education. Every Single Week.

Safety education at Meiborg is not a one-time training at orientation and a prayer. It is an ongoing commitment that shows up every week without fail.

We publish weekly safety content through two dedicated programs. The Meiborg Mile is our written safety education series covering critical topics like defensive driving, blind spots, hours of service compliance, and road awareness. Our Safety Center Update video series brings those topics to life in a format drivers can watch and absorb on their own time.

These are not boring compliance videos. They are practical, professional resources built for the drivers who run this country every day. You can find our safety content on our YouTube channel, where we continue to grow our library of educational material for drivers and industry professionals alike.

Safety is a continuous journey, not a destination. These weekly touchpoints are how we make sure that journey never stops.

Roadway Safety, Risk Reduction, and the Four Pillars We Live By

National Safety Month is organized around four critical focus areas, and Meiborg takes each one seriously every day of the year.

Safety Engagement means building a culture where every person on the team is invested in safety, not just compliant with it. At Meiborg, our drivers are treated like the professionals they are. When people feel respected and informed, they make better decisions on the road and in the workplace.

Roadway Safety is at the heart of what we do. Our combination of pre-trip training, AI monitoring, collision mitigation technology, and weekly education creates a layered approach to keeping our drivers and the public safe on every route we run.

Risk Reduction starts with data. By centralizing all safety information in McLeod and Tenstreet and using Motive’s coaching tools, we identify risk before it becomes an incident. We act on what the data tells us.

Slips, Trips, and Falls Prevention matters in our yards, our warehouses, and at every dock our drivers interact with. A safe operation does not stop at the truck. It extends to every environment our people work in.

Leading at the Industry Level

Meiborg does not just follow safety standards. We help shape them.

We are active members of the American Trucking Associations and the Illinois Trucking Association. Through participation on the ATA Safety Policy Committee, Meiborg has a direct voice in the regulations and standards that govern our industry. Most recently at the ATA Mid-Year Management Session, our leadership advocated for stronger measures against ELD fraud and chameleon carrier abuse, two issues that put compliant carriers at a disadvantage and put unsafe operators on the road.

We believe the industry gets better when the people who do things right stand up and say so loudly. That is what we intend to keep doing.

Safety Is How We Protect People. It Is Also How We Run a Better Business.

At the end of the day, every system we build, every video we publish, every exam we administer, and every conversation we have about safety comes back to one thing. People.

Our drivers. Their families. The communities they pass through. The people sharing the road with an 80,000 pound truck every single day.

Safety is not a checkbox at Meiborg. It never has been and it never will be. It is how we show up, how we train, how we operate, and how we hold ourselves accountable every mile of every day.

Happy National Safety Month. Now let us get back to work.
